Epilepsy Awareness Day is on Sunday, March 26th, and we encourage you to show your support and raise awareness by wearing purple. Please post a picture with #HCSPurple.
- Approximately 50 million people around the word are living with epilepsy
- 1 in 26 Americans will develop epilepsy in their lifetime
- There is no cure for epilepsy, but can be treated with medicine and/or lifestyle changes
In 2008, Cassidy Megan started Wear Purple Day to dispel myths about epilepsy, raise awareness for people with epilepsy at the age of 7, and to let them know that they are not alone. Cassidy was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 7, and by partnering with the New York-based Anita Kaufmann Foundation and Epilepsy Association of Nova Scotia, Wear Purple Day is celebrated in over 100 countries.
